February 2009

Well, it was another cold and busy month. My little girl turned 2 years old on the 5th and Jake got his first 2 teeth. They both had a drs appt. I guess it was helpful that I had them 18 months apart, since now all their appts fall around the same time. So Avery weighed in at a "healthy" 34lbs and 36 inches tall. Yeah she's the size of a 3 year old (with the attitude of a 16yr old). Jake weighed in at 18lbs and 27 inches. He is perfectly healthy and a perfect angel at the appt. Avery on the other hand was trying to escape the office. Just as the dr was asking if she says 2 word combinations yet, she was trying to open the door saying "go home now". I think that answered his question.

She had a great birthday with all her aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents to spoil her.

Well I guess we can't be too picky about how she eats the cupcake, afterall she is using a fork.

Opening her castle from her Aunt Leslie and Uncle John. She tried to bring it to bed with her that night. We compromised and let her bring the dolls only.
Silly Jake trying on his sister's new earmuffs.

Beauty costume from her Aunt Erika. Of course it's hard to pull off the petite princess look when you look like you could be a linebacker for the Giants.

Thanks Aunt Jenny for the "new ride". Now mommy can't wait for spring to clear up some floor space in the house.

Spending a quiet evening with her date for Valentine's Day. (aka Poppy)
I know my kids are big, but I swear it's just the playpen that is small. I don't think it was made for two kids at once.

Mom, I am sooo tired. Can you wake me in another 1/2 hour?

Such a cutie! He might look innocent but he has a very big mouth!

Avery likes to pretend she is a baby again. Including crying like a baby and wanting me to hold her cup for her while she drinks.
Jake still thinks she is really funny too. He is always laughing at her.

See laughing at Avery!

Yeah she tends to get herself into interesting situations. Most kids want to climb and jump off chairs. Not Avery she'd rather crawl under them and then get stuck.

Helping me clean. She was quite serious about it. (The xmas dress was suppose to be put away but she demanded to wear it on this day, including to bed)

Well, he didn't want Avery to think she can sing better than him. I have a feeling they will be competing over alot in the future.

Having a dirty face can still be really cute.

Jake and Mommy playing around. He finds humor in everything, which is helpful living in this family.

January 2009

Let's see...I think the word of the month should be tantrum. Yes, my sweet little girl is expressing her 2year old side. She is very effective in using the word NO and seems to have a very good throwing arm. If only she didn't feel the need to whip my picture frames across the room in a fit of rage. Jake is doing very well. He is teething...so everything is a bit soggy in my house. He is still a very happy guy and loves to yell loud. I think it is to keep above his sister's voice. It is amazing that our windows aren't cracked yet. I am counting the days until spring. I think my house maybe shrinking.

Grandma Booth gave her the flower hat. But she had a fit when I told her she couldn't wear it. So we compromised and wore it over her winter hat.

Jacob can pretty much sit by himself. But he is very curious and always reaching for stuff.

Enjoying some leisure time reading.

Spending some time with Poppy.

Avery doesn't believe in wasting any food.

We realized we needed to take the tree down when she crawled under it and hid behind it.

After a hard day at play Jake likes to relax on the sofa with a magazine.

umm.. this one is hard to explain. She leaned to far over and got stuck. But of course a picture was necessary before helping her out.

The first time in the big bath. He loved the bubbles and all the toys.

Of course Avery was ok with sharing the toys and tub, but she wanted to try out his chair.

My little laughing man!

I have fallen and can't get up!

This was the first real snowday that she got a chance to play outside. Of course...she had a problem with coming in after over an hour outside.
