Cape May Vacation 2009

Fun was had by all at Cape May. This was our first family vacation since we had kids. It has been a long time coming. We were busy everyday soaking in the sun and sand. And when I say soaking in the sand I mean that literally. I am still getting sand out of Avery's hair. Well, my kids don't really take after me when it comes to the beach and water fun. Avery didn't want to touch any body of water, at least not without complete caution. She loved hanging on the beach digging, but didn't want anything to do with the ocean. Jake didn't like the beach at all. So he spent most of his afternoons asleep with Grandma, while we were down at the beach. But he did love the pool. Of course Avery only liked the pool if she could touch. She doesn't trust anyone but herself. But they were really good. It was the first time sleeping away from home and they both would crash out every night without a fight. There must be something to the beach air. Can't wait for next year. Hopefully, I can prep them better for the pool and ocean.

One of the best parts of vacation. Eating out every night.

Group pic with cousins. Avery was doing her best to smile. But she was really terrified because the waves were really close. Just check Jake's face, he was keeping a close eye on the ocean.

So Avery are you getting tired yet?

How about now?

She was like a labrador when she hit the sand. She would just run and run and run.

Hmm, well Jake maybe next year will be better.

It's okay Avery, you can touch, you have your tube and I am 12 inches from you. Just enjoy yourself, a pool is meant to be fun.

Jake doesn't seem to have a problem. The bigger the splash the better.

Avery do you want to go to the beach?

Patiently waiting for us to get our gear together.

Jake time for the beach! "Hmm, can we talk about this some more?"

Daddy and Avery

Posing with cousing Kenzie

Rolling in the sand. She was the shake and bake kid. I don't know if I will ever get the sand out of her hair.

Nothing wrong with some child labor while on vacation.

Oh look Jake is on the beach and he looks so thrilled. Do you think we have room for one more kid in that pool?

running and running

Out cold. He looks so cute and like a big boy. Is it wrong that we set the crib up in the closet so it was darker and secluded? He is my little bat.

We also stopped at the zoo. Avery was mimicking all the birds.

Jake really enjoyed himself too.

Daddy enjoyed himself too, even though it was 100 degrees out.

Love the photos, all of them. I loved the photos of daddy and Jake on the beach... and the picture of Avery running in the sand!
Cute picture of you and Tori too... I think you two look alike! Sweet! Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
